The School of Veterinary Science has a rich history having been founded in 1936 and has a reputation for graduating self-reliant, independent and highly capable veterinarians with plenty of initiative and drive. The School has high quality facilities at the UQ Gatton campus, providing the teaching, research and clinical infrastructure and resources to develop its strong reputation as a leading provider of veterinary training, research and clinical care. The school also maintains a small animal hospital and large animal clinic at Dayboro, north-west of Brisbane.
The role: The School of Veterinary Science is seeking a locum Veterinarian to support a functional reproduction service within the UQ Veterinary Teaching Hospitals (VTH) particularly the Equine Specialist Hospital to cover a 6 month period. The position will be responsible for providing high quality reproduction services to the Gatton campus Equine units, the Equine Specialist Hospital, Small Animal Hospital, and Production Animal Services. The caseload is approximately 75% equine, 20% canine, and 5% other. The appointee will participate in the management of primary, emergency and referral cases in the reproduction service. In addition to ensuring excellence in clinical care, the appointee will actively participate in the clinical teaching and instruction of undergraduate and postgraduate students in the School of Veterinary science as well as School of Agriculture and Food Sciences. The incumbent will also be involved in the clinical training of Veterinary interns and residents.
The person: Applicants must have a degree in Veterinary Science or equivalent registrable in Queensland together with demonstrated previous experience in the area of reproduction. For appointment at HEW Level 9, applicants must have eligibility for specialist registration in Queensland or experience of more than 10 years in the area of reproduction including experience in leading and managing clinical teams.
Remuneration: This is a fixed-term position of up to 6 months and is advertised at two levels - HEW Level 8 and HEW Level 9.
The remuneration package for HEW Level 8 will be in the range AUD$96,466 - $108,318 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of 9.5%
The remuneration package for HEW Level 9 will be in the range AUD$113,095 - $119,678 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of 9.5%
