Animal Care Alliance is looking for a full-time veterinarian that enjoys a mix of surgery and medicine. The vets at ACA are talented in many ways and happy to mentor and share their knowledge. Candidates who are skilled at caring for species other than dogs and cats are encouraged to apply. There is a need in our community for exotic animal care and we help as much as we can. We alter lots of rabbits and recently spayed an egg bound iguana. We aren't really set up for large animal care, however, we have had more than one 140 lb. goat on our x-ray table. We have spayed and neutered many pet pigs. We enjoy caring for all animals if its within our capability and the animal always comes first.
Our large lobby reflects a number of fish and turtle tanks. Our education animals are often on site, so it's common to see opossums, many owl species, snakes, etc. Our clients seem to enjoy the variety of creatures when they bring their pets to be seen. It makes their wait go faster and allows them to learn about Indiana's native wildlife. Could you be the applicant who fits well with our rather unique organization? We like having a happy staff and try to be flexible. Some vets and staff even bring their dogs to work.
Richmond is a community of about 35,000 inhabitants surrounded by rural area. It has a lot to offer for an area that size...restaurants, theater, art, large lakes, and recreation areas, but if you like more of metropolitan life, Indianapolis and Cincinnati are just an hour away.
DVM. Team player. Willing to learn new things. Willing to work a few hours over 40 if necessary. Dedication to go the extra mile for an animal that needs help.
About Animal Care Alliance
Animal Care Alliance is a fast paced, non-profit that endeavors to provide affordable spay/neuter and medical care for owned pets as well as rescue organizations. Our vets perform many surgical procedures and approximately 25% are unrelated to s/n. We have one full time veterinarian who has been with us since our inception in 2007 and five part-time vets. We also offer walk in visits for illness, injury, vaccinations and wellness care 3-4 days weekly.
In July 2018, we moved into a newly constructed, 5200 sq. ft. facility. Our equipment list includes digital X-ray, ultrasound, electrocautery, ultrasonic dental scaler and a few other pieces. We use IDEXX in house diagnostic equipment and veterinary software.
Our techs and support staff are well trained, efficient and enjoyable to work with.
We are permitted by Indiana DNR and US Fish and Wildlife Service to rehabilitate native mammals, songbirds and raptors that are orphaned or injured. We are also permitted to use unreleasable wildlife for educational purposes and enjoy sharing our wildlife ambassadors and knowledge about their species with people of all ages in our community.
We enjoy helping students, through internship roles, further their interest in future careers in veterinary medicine.
