Part-time Administrative Assistant

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the national not-for-profit association established in 1863 that represents over 93,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia and uniformed services, is seeking a part-time Administrative Assistant to join the Office of the Executive Vice President located at the AVMA Headquarters office in Schaumburg, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago. Under the general direction of the Senior Manager, Governance Administration, this position will provide support for strategic partners, the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) and for the professional and administrative staff of the Office of the Executive Vice President, as needed.

An associate degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 3-5 years of administrative office experience, is required. A bachelor’s degree and association experience are preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. We require strong customer service skills and working experience with PC programs and database management. A successful candidate must be highly organized, with extreme attention to detail; possess confidence to interact with all levels of staff within the AVMA, volunteer leadership and the public; self-motivated with good problem-solving skills; and able to work effectively as a member of a team and independently.
