Full-time faculty positions – College of Veterinary Medicine Long Island University
The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Long Island University (LIU) in Brookville, New York invites applications from self-directed, motivated individuals to join LIU faculty in pharmacology, infectious disease (bacteriology, virology), parasitology, epidemiology, physiology, immunology, pathology, and/or toxicology for the positions of full-time tenure-track Assistant, Associate or Full Professor.
Successful candidates must be engaged in educational, research and service activities. Priority review will be given to candidates whose strength is research, with demonstrated experience in securing extramural funding for research, and exhibited skill in curriculum development, implementation, and teaching. Additionally, successful candidates must be naturally adept at promoting LIU-CVM’s enhancing veterinary medical education through excellence in teaching, research and service mission to a variety of stakeholders.
We seek PhD and DVM academics with an active research program and expertise designing, developing, delivering and coordinating courses in Veterinary Biomedical Sciences, and Veterinary Clinical Sciences for LIU’s Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. Successful candidates will have a proven record of expertise in areas relevant to veterinary medicine, including anatomy, animal nutrition, epidemiology, immunology, infectious diseases, microscopic anatomy, morphologic pathology, parasitology, pharmacology, toxicology or veterinary pharmacology.
All Assistant/ Associate/ Full Professor candidates will be responsible for developing, and seeking funding for, independent and/or collaborative research programs in Veterinary Biomedical Science, and/or Veterinary Clinical Science disciplines that contribute to the College of Veterinary Medicine’s mission.
Active engagement in curriculum development, identification or creation of innovative learning resources, and committee service participation (such as admissions, curriculum, research, etc.) is expected.
The College of Veterinary Medicine at Long Island University:
Currently, with forty off-campus clinical sites, LIU CVM will utilize a distributed model of clinical education. Underway and soon to be completed are facilities with advanced equipment designed to accommodate specific instructional needs connected to the DVM Anatomy, Clinical/Professional Skills, Diagnostic Imaging, Pathology and Research program emphases.
The successful candidate will have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree, PhD or other earned doctoral degree in biomedical sciences, or related field and/or specialty board certification. Candidates will have a record of scholarly achievement as an independent and/or collaborative researcher consistent with appointed rank. Additionally, candidates will have a strong commitment to professional DVM and graduate student education, proven strength teaching in large and small group settings, good communication skills, and the ability to promote a culture of diversity and inclusiveness.
