Grand Prix Equine is offering a unique Sport Horse Medicine internship to a candidate with strong people skills, sport horse experience and a high ethical standard. Our ambulatory practice is based in Fairfield County, Connecticut and Westchester County, New York but serves the needs of sport horses in the surrounding region, Long Island and seasonally in Wellington, Florida. Grand Prix Equine is in its 8th year and is an ambulatory-only practice. It is our goal to provide the best care possible to the show horse while maintaining a high level of client service. Most of the horses in our care are hunters and jumpers but we also care for dressage horses, combined-training athletes and western performance horses. The great majority of our patients are actively showing year-round.
You will work side-by-side with either Dr. Johanna Kremberg or Dr. Mark Baus for most of the internship. At the conclusion of the internship, our candidate will be proficient at purchase exams and lameness exams including nerve blocks,radiograph & ultrasound acquisition and interpretation. You will also be proficient at managing emergency and dental cases. Practice management skills will be a fundamental part of our program. We utilize the Equinosis (Lameness Locator) inertial sensors for all complicated lameness work-ups, and you will be proficient in the technology by the end of your internship.
An outfitted vehicle will be provided along with a laptop and smartphone. Compensation is $3,000 per month. Benefits include medical and liability insurance, dues for AVMA and AAEP, continuing education and 8 paid days off per year.
