The Humane Society of Southern Arizona in Tucson is seeking a relief, high volume, high quality, spay/neuter Surgeon. Experience with high volume spay/neuter (25-35 surgeries, 50/50% mix of spays and neuters) and pediatric surgeries required. Knowledge of the Humane Alliance spay/neuter model a plus. Ability to provide leadership direction to employees and work in a fast paced environment. Surgical hours 7:00am until 2:30pm. Owned pets as well as shelter pets. Perform intake examinations to determine ‘fit for surgery’, examine patients prior to discharge. Must possess an Arizona Veterinary License in good standing, maturity, good judgment. Relief Veterinarian Information:
Valid Arizona veterinarian's license Valid Arizona driver's license; driving record acceptable to HSSA insurance carrier Must maintain professional liability insurance at levels sufficient to meet minimum requirements recommended by the American Veterinary Medical Association.
The Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA), founded in 1944, is a private, independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization with the mission of acting with compassion and responsible stewardship through innovative programs that serve pets and the people who love them. HSSA is the largest charitable animal welfare and protection agency in Southern Arizona that follows the tenets of ...a no-kill community with 90 employees and 1300 volunteers, serving all of southern Arizona, handling approximately 8000 animals per year, within a $6+ million annual budget. HSSA has instituted nationally-recognized programs and operates a thrift store, off-site adoption and retail centers and spay/neuter clinics, which perform about 8000 surgeries per year. HSSA is currently engaged in a capital campaign to build a new, state-of-the-art facility.
