Rapidly growing 2 doctor, progressive, mixed-animal practice is expanding to 4 doctors. There are 2 positions available, 1 primarily small animal (with random pet pigs, goats and exotics mixed in) and 1 large animal/equine (with random farm dogs and cats mixed in). Some crossover of a mixed position could be available if desired. We see everything and anything. Our practice is like a box of chocolates, you really have no idea what you're going to get each day! Benefits are the same as every other vet hospital (health insurance, PLIT, licensing, CE, paid time off, etc.). The biggest benefit is that you would be working at an awesome place with great people where everyone gets along (aka no typical vet clinic drama). The staff is really great and we have a very friendly, relaxed, family-like atmosphere where everyone works hard and helps out.
The most important thing we are looking for is someone who truly cares about clients and their animals. We go further than the extra mile for our clients, which is what has and will continue to set us apart. Client communication is crucial and we are looking for someone who can effectively read and communicate with any and every type of client. The hospital is in an affluent town that enables us to practice high-quality medicine and surgery for all species. We are pretty much within 20 minutes of anything you like to do for fun.
Small Animal Position: Our clients enable us to practice great medicine, dentistry and surgery and we have the equipment to support it. In-house blood machines, digital X-ray, ultrasound, complete surgical equipment and pretty much any piece of equipment you would need. We perform a lot of surgeries from spay/neuters to ACLs, FHO's, fractures, C-sections, bloats, ophtho and some goat/mini pig stuff as well. You would have the opportunity to learn these skills if interested. We maintain great relationships with other practices and rescues that increase our surgical caseload as well. Schedule could be flexible, but basically would be 4 days a week plus every other Saturday morning. The ideal candidate would be someone who can balance all the diagnostics and tools we have with the reality of the animals situation (our clients love this part about us). They would need to be adaptable and maintain excellent client communication (have we stressed that part enough???).
Large Animal Position: Clientele is awesome. We have been fortunate enough to have gained a great mix of all species and types of clients. We work on everything from pet livestock to commercial farms to show horses. Species breakdown is 50% equine, 10% dairy, 20% beef and 20% goat/sheep/llama/alpaca/mini pig/commercial swine/reindeer/anything else that calls. Caseload includes general medicine, lameness exams/joint injections, herd checks, equine dentistry, surgeries, AI, embryo transfer, etc. We are 95% mobile and practice area is all of CT and Southern MA. You will be provided with a practice truck equipped with everything you need to practice, including an ultrasound. Portable digital X-ray is shared between large-animal veterinarians. Endoscope is on the way. Emergency coverage would be approximately 50% of nights and weekends until additional veterinarians join. Emergency work would be compensated. Schedule would be 4 days a week plus every other Saturday morning for appointments. The ideal candidate should be well-versed in large animal handling/behavior/safety while being confident and progressive in veterinary knowledge.
