The Humane Rescue Alliance is seeking a Director of Veterinary Medicine to grow the organization’s medical program and offerings from a regional leadership role to a national one. Operating three animal-care facilities in Washington, D.C., the organization provides a broad range of programs including: rescue and adoption, humane law enforcement, low-cost veterinary services, animal care & control, behavior and training, spay-neuter services, humane education, and many others.

minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in shelter medicine or general veterinary medicine and care;
a demonstrated record in successful management of staff including coaching on performance management and accountability;
a passion for developing the next generation of shelter veterinarians and veterinary technicians;
the ability and enjoyment of working as part of a collaborative team of leaders;
exceptional organizational skills;
a curious spirit with a passion for innovation in life-saving and relationship-building;
a strong belief in the ethics of helping families of all income levels;
current valid license to practice veterinary medicine in the District of Columbia (or a willingness to pursue a D.C. license);
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited college or university.
