About The Animal Foundation
The Animal Foundation’s story:A nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization, The Animal Foundation, founded in 1978, is the highest volume single-site animal shelter in America. Last year we saved over 25,000 lost, homeless, and often mistreated animals.Much like a public hospital, as an open-admission shelter, The Animal Foundation takes in every animal that comes to us in need, no matter how sick or injured. From the expected dogs, cats, rabbits to pigs, fighting roosters, and exotic animals, we serve them all. Just like a hospital, we can’t save them all. What we can do, with the support of the community, is save every healthy and treatable animal that comes to us in need. The Animal Foundation’s lifesaving programs are designed to address the root causes of pet overpopulation and homelessness and include: adoptions; low-cost spay/neuter, microchipping and vaccination services; lost & found pets; Community Cats; and more. These programs have been instrumental in helping increase our overall live release rate from 58% before our strategic initiatives started to over 83% in 2017.In June 2015, The Animal Foundation announced Mission: Possible 2020, a strategic initiative to save the lives of al...l healthy and treatable animals that come to The Animal Foundation in need, by the end of the year 2020. The Animal Foundation marked a Mission: Possible 2020 milestone in October 2017 with a ceremonial groundbreaking event that marked the start of new construction and renovations at our 8-acre campus. New and updated facilities are paramount to our life-saving goals. Our Mission- We envision a humane and compassionate community for all animals. Our mission at The Animal Foundation is to save the lives of all healthy and treatable animals in the Las Vegas valley.
