Locally owned Veterinary Practice seeking a Technician to assist doctors to the fullest possible extent, to help improve the quality of care given to the patients, and to aid the doctors in achieving greater efficiency by relieving them of technical work.
The Veterinary Technician assists in multiple procedures providing care for animals including physical examinations, dental procedures, surgeries, immunizations, euthanasia as well as client education, marketing and inventory maintenance. This position requires a working knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs, common diseases; their symptoms, means of transmission, treatment and prevention, and other basic preventive health care recommendations. Assistant Technician assists the veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment, monitors hospitalized pets, maintains inventory, prepares prescriptions, preforms routine in-house laboratory work, educates clients regarding veterinary care and procedures, and may assist with surgical procedures.
The Veterinary Assistant uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments independently without specific instructions, but refers deviation, problems, and unfamiliar situations not covered by instructions to the practitioner for decisions and on compliance with instructions or established procedures. Review of work increases with more difficult assignments, if the veterinary assistant has not previously preformed similar assignments.
Exhibit technical knowledge of products ad medications sold, including dietary products, Explain and educate clients on products and answer questions regarding products.
Obtain and record patient histories, Collect specimens and preform routine laboratory procedures and test, assist in the diagnosis and treatment of animal health problems. Prepare patients, instruments and equipment for surgery. Administrate, monitor support equipment, take and process radiography.
